Joined Hands Christian School
With committed teachers and the community behind us, we can now give the children a reliable, safe place to learn, and open up new options for adults through education. Education strengthens not only individual children, but whole families and the entire community.

Joined Hands Christian School in the Kampasa community near Lusaka gives children from low-income families access to education. The nearest school is about 7 kilometres away and out of reach for many children. That makes this small local school an important opportunity for many families.
It was founded in 2022 by Elina Tembo. Her aim is to give children a safe place to learn and to open up new prospects for adults, especially women, through literacy classes. In the beginning lessons were held under a mango tree. School fees made it possible to rent a building.
Today around 56 children aged 2 to 13 learn there. In addition, about 65 women regularly attend evening classes to learn to read and write. To keep the school running, small fees are charged. Many families, however, can only pay them irregularly or not at all. The children are taught all the same.
Alongside lessons, the children get a simple lunch. For many of them it is often the only hot meal of the day. All of this is possible because of the personal commitment of a small team and the conviction that education has to start even where there are barely any resources.
The school is therefore more than a place of lessons. It is a place of safety, community and hope for children and adults alike.

Mushroom growing as a source of income
With your donation we support setting up mushroom growing on site. We fund training, materials, simple production rooms and the initial equipment, so that families and women in the community can earn their own income in the long run and keep the school running for good.
